We are the Coastal Bend Coalition.

A coalition of Coastal Bend residents, business owners, and community leaders united behind one goal: a permanent water supply for our region through leaders who choose to govern, not perform.

We are neighbors who decided that water is too important to leave to chance, and that the time to act was yesterday.

We are building the pressure, the awareness, and the coalition to make sure Inner Harbor Desalination gets built. Nothing more complicated than that.

    DESAL RESPONSE

Governor Abbott’s Chief of Staff Responds to Corpus Christi Desalination Vote

Governor Abbott’s Chief of Staff Robert Black responds after #CorpusChristi City Council voted down the item on the Inner Harbor desalination project Tuesday night:

“It is clear that the current Corpus Christi City Council does not possess the courage to lead nor the will to govern and has once again failed to secure reliable water for their citizens.

The State has done its part. The Texas Water Development Board approved $757 million in SWIFT financing for the Inner Harbor plant, and TCEQ fully permitted the facility.

Going forward, Governor Abbott will utilize all necessary tools to ensure the Corpus Christi area has a safe, reliable long term water supply.”

    Our water is running out.

Corpus reservoirs are at historic lows. The drought cycle we’ve rolled through for the past decade isn’t a fluke and it will happen again. Meanwhile, opportunity for growth and prosperity knocks at our door. The Demand for a water solution does not slow down.

For years, we’ve watched our region stumble from emergency restriction to emergency restriction, praying for the next rain. That’s not a plan. That’s luck. And luck runs out.

This is the number the city uses to trigger drought restrictions.

    Water NOW.

Not next decade. Not next drought. Now.

The reservoirs are empty. The Gulf is right there.

Inner Harbor Desalination is a permanent, reliable water source built right here on our coast, one that works regardless of rainfall.

The technology is proven and used around the world, including in Texas. What our region needs now is the will to build it.

    What's missing isn't technology. It's political will.

    i.

    Rain-proof by design.

It draws from the Gulf of Mexico, an unlimited source right at our doorstep, so our supply holds whether it rains or not.

    ii.

On our coast, close to home.

The Inner Harbor site sits close to demand and close to the source, so the region controls its own supply instead of importing it.

    iii.

A supply we can count on.

Instead of scrambling every dry summer to ration and pray for rain, we build toward a steady, permanent source for the generations after us.

Politics got us here. Leadership will get us out.

For too long, politics have stood in the way of progress. Delayed decisions, failed leadership, and a lack of long-term planning

have put our region’s future at risk.

The Coastal Bend Coalition believes lasting change starts by electing leaders who will govern responsibly, work together professionally, and make decisions based on what’s best for our community—not politics.

We are working to elect leaders who will:

    i.

    Secure Our Water Future

Support the Inner Harbor Desalination Project immediately. Stay open to all responsible water projects that protect our community with a reliable, long-term water supply. We believe water security is the foundation of the Coastal Bend’s economic prosperity and future growth.

    ii.

    Restore Responsible Leadership

Elect City Council members who are committed to transparency,
accountability, fiscal responsibility, and respectful governance.
Our community deserves leaders who solve problems—not create them.

    iii.

    Strengthen Our Economy

Champion smart infrastructure investments, support job creation,
encourage responsible development, and create an environment where businesses can grow and families can prosper. Strong leadership and a secure water supply are essential to the Coastal Bend’s continued economic success.

The future of the Coastal Bend will not be decided by chance - it will be decided by who we elect.

Every election is an opportunity to choose leaders who will put our community first, make difficult decisions with integrity, and focus on long- term solutions instead of short-term politics.

Together, we can elect a new generation of leaders who will secure our water future, restore responsible leadership, and build a stronger, more prosperous Coastal Bend.

Join the Coalition. Support the Mission. Help Elect Leaders Who Will Move the Coastal Bend Forward.
